What is RockminSolutions
Rockminsolutions is a company dedicated to identifying and developing unique deposits of basaltic rock that can be used to both remineralise productive agricultural soils and simultaneously remove excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We have identified extensive non-welded basaltic pyroclastic flows or ignimbrite deposits (billions of tons) within our mineral exploration permits that were produced by multiple eruptions and can be used to:
Remove CO2 emissions when used for enhanced weathering in agriculture (and mine site rehabilitation) while also reducing fertiliser and irrigation inputs while boosting yields and the nutritional quality of crops.
Reduce CO2 emissions when used as a supplementary cementitious material to make low-carbon cement.
Atmospheric CO2 removal through enhanced weathering of crushed basaltic rock is becoming increasingly important around the world. It is now accepted as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly option for carbon capture and removal from the atmosphere with multiple co-benefits.
Our large resource of unique, mostly non-welded and relatively soft basaltic pyroclastic flows will be inexpensive to crush for atmospheric CO2 removal through enhanced weathering. The crushed rock will also act as a slow-release fertiliser improving soil fertility while concurrently increasing water holding capacity, consequently improving agricultural productivity. In addition, this material has the potential to increase timber growth in forestry plantations where CO2 could be captured in both soils and timber.
Some elements of our resource also have the potential to be used as a supplementary cementitious material to make low-carbon concrete.
Recently we have discovered large areas of strong zeolite alteration in EPM 28613 that could have multiple industrial applications. The lack of free silica (quartz) in this rock removes any silicosis hazard when crushing this material
